Our Canary Yellow Vest And Stripe Lace Up Tunic

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend whether you were traveling out of town or staying home and relaxing.  We chose to do the latter and stayed home to take care of some work around the house, and some well deserved R & R.

Before I get into my outfit and the items we are featuring today, I am super excited to announce that we have added four new earrings to our shop’s jewelry section.  I am wearing one of them in today’s look.  I have been looking for a while to find the right kind of earrings to add to our store, since some of our necklaces already come with earrings as a set.  Personally when I wear a necklace that is my main jewelry piece, I tend to add smaller earrings that compliment it.  I don’t like wearing big earrings with big necklaces as I believe one of them should be the statement piece and the other one should compliment it. Therefore, I was looking to add earrings to the store that can make a statement on their own.  I hope you really like the ones we have just added as I think they are all really beautiful, very affordable and they are all hand made and gold plated with intricate details and stones. You can see the gold plated double circle drop earrings with black stones I am wearing today in the photos below, but please make sure to check out the other three in our jewelry section here.

Last spring, I introduced you to Solstice, Ebony and Ivory vests and they sold really well for us during the spring and summer.  We actually still have a few of them left in each color.  You can see those three vests herehere and here.  This year I wanted to do this vest in one more color for this spring/summer so I chose to go with this canary yellow version.  I really love yellow for spring and summer and this year it is one of Pantone’s spring 2016 trend colors, called Buttercup, as well. This vest is a loose easy piece to wear that is longer in the front and shorter in the back, it is a perfect piece to throw over any top to take it to the next level.

Today I chose to wear it with one of our brand new tops which is actually more like a tunic as it is quite long.  It is a sleeveless stripe shirt in ivory with black stripes and it has a lace up front detail which is a big trend in tops and blouses for this spring. The fabric is a soft microfiber georgette so it is sheer and you would need to wear a camisole underneath. I decided to show the top both ways, left out as a tunic or tucked in with a belt, as I really like both looks.   These pieces are paired with my Bermuda shorts in black, strappy heels, Chanel bag and two of our bracelets in black and of course one of our brand new earrings.

Our Boho Black Print Poncho Styled Two Ways

Thank you to all who took advantage of our first ever Two-For Thursday event last Thursday and saved 15% by getting two items.  This is a sale event we will have every Thursday, where you can buy any two items on our web site and you automatically get 15% off each item.  It’s a great chance to pick any two pieces that you have had your eye on to purchase and save some money at the same time.  If you are reading this but have not subscribed to my blog, now would be a good time since we will be sending notifications about the sale to remind everyone.

Today I am showing you a look I wore to a friend’s birthday party last week.  I first showed you our “Boho Black Print Poncho” here along with the two other color ways it comes in.  Last time I styled it with my black skinny jeans for a fun casual look. This time I wanted to show you how great it looks with a dress as well especially for a date night or any kind of night out.  I chose to wear it over my black All Saints dress, along with some great heels and a clutch to go to the party.  This poncho has two armholes and you wear it like a cardigan but it can also act as a wrap and that is why it is a perfect choice for going out at night when you need a cover up.  Once again I am showing  you two different ways you can wear it, loose or belted.  I like both looks and would wear it both ways for different occasions.  I also added one of our best selling necklaces for the loose look but chose to take it off for the belted one, as the necklace did not work as well when I wore it this way with a belt.

For the belted look, perhaps you can choose some dramatic earrings to set it off.  I also added one of our charm bracelets that works perfectly with the necklace as a set.

For this weekend’s Flash Sale we have also included the Boho Navy Print Poncho, Boho Raspberry Print Poncho as well as this Boho Black Print Poncho and jewelry featured in this stor .  You can see a photo of each color way at the bottom.

Below are the items that are part of our Weekend Flash Sale where you can save 15% with code FS521 plus Free US Shipping. Sale will end Sunday night at midnight.

Playing With Some Asymmetrical Shapes

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day last Sunday.  As I mentioned last week, my son was going through his finals this week so we couldn’t celebrate on Sunday. However, he and my husband surprised me with a nice dinner on Tuesday at Faith and Flower, which is a restaurant in downtown Los Angeles that I had been wanting to try for a while.  We decided to head out a little earlier than our reservation so we could do a blog shoot in the art district before going over to the restaurant and I managed to convince my son to take a few photos with me which you can see below.  The restaurant has a very nice ambiance and the décor is really well thought out. The food was delicious but our service was really slow considering it was a weekday.

As for my outfit, I was super excited to wear two of our brand new pieces that we have just added to our store.  This black and white paisley trapeze handkerchief hem tunic could be construed as a dress.  As a matter of fact, it can be worn as a dress but the front is a little short for me so I chose to wear it as a tunic with leggings under it.  It is made out of four big scarves attached together to give it the handkerchief hem look.  Each pattern is an interesting paisley print in black and white.  I tried to pull the dress open so you can see the design.  You can see even better pictures of it on our shop section where I clearly show the shape.  I wore a black camisole and leggings underneath, but you can easily wear it without a camisole with a short skirt, shorts, jeans or on its own.

I also added our brand new black faux leather vest on top.  With both pieces having asymmetrical hems the two compliment each other really well.  The vest does have a spaghetti tie belt which I chose to tie in the back for this look.  However, the vest is very versatile and you can wear it with so many other pieces and it looks great belted as well.  You can see more photos of the vest and belted version of it too on our shop. I finished off the look with our beautiful Gunmetal chain necklace with marbleized stone and fringe, black stone bracelets, black sandals and black bag.

The following items are all part of our Weekend Flash Sale where you can save 15% with using code FS514 plus Free USA shipping. Sale will end Sunday night at midnight.

A Second Look At Our Gray And Black Print Kaftan

First and foremost, I want to wish all my readers who are mothers, grandmothers or stepmothers an early Happy Mother’s Day.  I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow with your loved ones.  We will be celebrating Mother’s Day later next week because my son is extremely busy with his final exams and he literally has two finals on Monday.  The good news is he finishes school on Monday afternoon and will soon be home for summer.

Today I wanted to style our Gray and Black Print Kaftan for a second time.  Last time I styled it for you as a top that you can wear with jeans and boots to a casual outing.  You can see that look here.  This time I wanted to do a fun look that was more spring /summer appropriate so I paired it with my black shorts.  The nice thing about this kaftan is that you can wear it so many different ways for different occasions.  Today I am showing it to you three different ways with the shorts I am wearing, but the same look can be achieved when worn with a skirt or even skinny jeans.

1.     Look #1 – I have taken a belt and put it through the armholes so the belt is visible only in the front but the back is still left loose. This look gives you a shape for the days when you want to look more put together and perhaps sexier. I have to say this is one of my favorite ways to wear it.

2.     Look #2 – I am wearing it loose over my shorts which gives it a casual and easy vibe.  Even though I am wearing my wedge sandals with it here, this look will also be really cute with flat shoes or sandals.

3.      Look #3 – I have tucked in just the front of the Kaftan and left the back out. This look also gives you a shape but with an easier, laid back vibe.
4.
Even though it is not one of the looks I am showing here, I wanted to mention that this kaftan will also be really fun as a cover up over a swim suit for summer vacations or pool parties.

This kaftan along with every other item on our web site is part of our Mother’s Day Sale that is still going on but it will end tomorrow May 8th at midnight.  This is your last chance to save 15% on everything in the store when your enter code MDAY16  at checkout plus you will get FREE 2-3 day Priority Shipping In The USA.

Have a wonderful Mother’s Day tomorrow everyone and hopefully I can share the details of my Mother’s Day with all of you next weekend.
I would love to know which look is your favorite.

Mothers Day Sale And A Movie About The Met Gala

http://www.jacketsociety.com/mothers-day-sale-movie-met-gala/

Mother’s Day is only a week away and I wanted to remind everyone about our Mother’s Day Sale that is going on right now in our store. Everything in the store is 15% off with code MDAY16 plus Free USA Priority 2-3 day shipping.  There is still time to order a gift for a loved one or treat yourself and get it in time before next Sunday May 8th.  I hope everyone will take advantage of this offer, as we all deserve to be treated every so often.  The sale will end at midnight on May 8th.

Last week my husband and I went to see a new movie release called “The First Monday in May”.  This movie is currently out on limited release and is showing only in select theaters and cities.  It follows the creation of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s most attended fashion exhibition in history, “China: Through The Looking Glass”, an exploration of Chinese-inspired Western fashions by Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton.  I had the pleasure of seeing this exhibit last year when I was in New York with my son and wrote a blog story about it which you can see here.  It was one of the most beautiful exhibits I have ever been to. To be able to see these gowns up close which were work of arts rather than gowns was truly unforgettable for me.

“The First Monday in May” is a 1 hour 30 minute documentary movie that shows behind the scenes while preparing for the 2015 grand Met Gala event and all the hard work and labor that went into producing it.  For me it was very interesting. Being a fashion designer by profession, I love and admire all the beauty and hard work that goes into these kind of shows. The timing to see this movie couldn’t have been better, since the Met Gala 2016 is happening this upcoming Monday, May 2nd.  The theme this year is “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology”. The upcoming exhibition will focus on the dichotomy between hand made haute couture and machine made fashion.  The show will feature more than 100 pieces of fashion, both haute couture and ready to wear.  From couture pieces featuring hand embroidery to pleating and lacework techniques, to machine made laser cut techniques, they will all be showcased together.  There will also be several “in process” workshops including 3-D printing where the public will be able to see the actual process take place at the museum.

I would love to see this exhibit just like the last one and even though I don’t have any plans for traveling to New York this summer, I am seriously considering it.

This year E News is exclusively covering the red carpet event this Monday May 2nd  coverage starts at 7 pm EST / 4 pm PST and I know I will be watching.

Below you can see a trailer for the movie and if you are interested in seeing it.
Click this link for the official Website where you can search in your area by zip code for Show times near where you live. If you get to see it, I do hope you enjoy it as much as we did , Leave me a comment with your thoughts – I always love to hear from you all – Nora
